The recent UK National Security Assessment highlighted the threats to our security, prosperity and resilience posed by global biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse. According to the World Economic Forum, environmental risks are now among the most significant risks facing global executives over the next decade. Yet they are also among those for which businesses are least prepared.

Nature is no longer a corporate social responsibility issue, but a core strategic and risk management priority. Understanding our relationship with, and dependencies on, nature is critical to building resilience and future proofing our communities and economy. While businesses increasingly recognise that nature matters, many still struggle to translate this understanding into a compelling case for boards and leadership teams.

Join us for a screening of Becoming Nature Positive, the new film from the Nature Positive Initiative and Open Planet Studios, featuring leading voices from across the global sustainability community.

The screening will be followed by an expert panel discussion exploring the different ways business leaders are engaging their teams and boards with nature strategy. We’ll hear insights from the 30by30 campaign and explore how brand commitments are shifting team culture, strategic focus and partnerships. We’ll also consider how nature connection and living systems leadership experiences can help shift mindsets and strategic thinking, alongside success stories from those building the business case for nature strategy and reporting within leading UK organisations.

Speakers

Nicky O’Malley is the co-founder and CEO of 30×30 UK, a national movement bringing businesses, government, landowners and communities together to help turn the UK’s commitment to protect and restore 30% of land and sea by 2030 into action. A strategist, speaker and nature advocate, Nicky works at the intersection of business, nature and systems change, with a particular focus on mobilising the private sector as a force for nature restoration. She also advises leaders and organisations on putting nature at the heart of strategy and decision-making.

Emma Schofield is nature strategy advisor working with nature restoration leaders to build engagement and connection with business and communities on nature recovery. As founder of The Nature Circle, she partners with nature leaders in the Chilterns to provide living systems learning and leadership experiences for business leaders. Grounded in nature connection & engagement with restoration projects, these aim to inspire and build insight on how this helps build resilience across our local landscapes. Emma is a former PwC partner, with over 20 years experience advising boards and leadership teams across financial services, sustainability & impact.

Theo Bromfield is the co-founder and director at Fola Sustainability, a specialist nature consultancy which supports businesses to accelerate action on nature. Theo started his career in the charity sector working with a number of conservation NGOs across Africa and Asia, whilst studying Environmental Law. He has worked with a number of Multilateral Environmental Agreements including the CBD and CITES, and the development of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. Prior to setting up Fola in 2023, Theo was part of the sustainability team at PwC, helping develop the strategy for their Centre for Nature Positive Business.

Ben Stone – With 20 years of sustainability experience, Ben currently serves as Group Head of Environmental Sustainability at Kier Group. With a proven track record of integrating sustainability into business strategies, he plays a critical role in strategy evolution and enhancing ESG disclosure. Ben is also a Board Member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, supporting construction sector supply chains to combat the climate and nature emergency and empower people to take action.
