Activist, author and co-founder of the New Citizenship Project Jon Alexander, as he explores what we need to do to step into a bigger idea of ourselves as Citizens: collaborative, caring, creative creatures, who can shape our communities, organisations, and nations for the better.
Tracing the human history and bringing together evidence that we have always been Citizens by nature, he will articulate what we must do in order to survive and thrive – as individuals, as organisations, even as a species.
The event coincides with the release of his new book, co-authored with Ariane Conrad- CITIZENS: Why the Key to Fixing Everything is All of Us. Copies of the book will be available to purchase before and after the event.

Jon Alexander began his career with success in advertising, winning the prestigious Big Creative Idea of the Year before making a dramatic change. Driven by a deep need to understand the impact on society of 3,000 commercial messages a day, he gathered three Masters degrees, exploring consumerism and its alternatives from every angle. In 2014, he co-founded the New Citizenship Project to bring the resulting ideas into contact with reality. He is a Conduit Community Member. Jon’s new book CITIZENS: Why the Key to Fixing Everything is All of Us was co-authored with Ariane Conrad and will be published by Canbury Press in February 2022.

Cathy Runciman’s work crosses climate and culture and straddles storytelling and social change. She’s the Executive Director of EarthPercent, a charity working to unleash the power of music in service of the planet, and co-founder/curator of Atlas of the Future and Fixing the Future, two resources of hope, raising the profile of and connecting innovative, future-focused, socially impactful people and projects around the world. She is a board advisor to Makerversity, a pioneering community of maker businesses in London’s Somerset House, a member of the Point People systems changers network and board member for Goldsmiths University’s publishing enterprise Goldsmiths Press. Previous roles have included working as acting CEO and head of partnerships at the non-profit global media organisation openDemocracy, and prior to that leading Time Out Group‘s international business for over ten years, launching new arts and entertainment media in more than 30 cities worldwide.
