Conduit Capital appoints new Chairperson, former ADIA global private equity leader Georges Sudarskis
Meg Brown, formerly Chief Product and Marketing Officer for Impax Asset Management, also joins to lead the firm’s growth strategy as Deputy CEO
Conduit Capital, the impact investment manager creating financial products to scale solutions to urgent climate and social challenges, has appointed a new Board Chairperson Georges Sudarskis and a Deputy CEO, Meg Brown.
Once voted by Private Equity International (PEI) as one of the top 25 most influential private equity leaders worldwide, Georges Sudarkis was formerly the Global Head of Private Equity for Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he not only built one of the largest private equity portfolios in the world but also, together with others, helped fund the ascent and rise of many of today’s private equity industry stalwarts. As a seasoned alternative investment management specialist, Georges has exceptional experience of developing and managing large institutional portfolios of illiquid assets, and empowering the teams that execute the strategies. After ADIA, Georges mentored a number of sovereign wealth funds in the attractiveness and pitfalls of private assets investing, and he helped build and develop several investment platforms (notably relating to the universe of US-based early-stage venture and emerging managers, to the China growth equity opportunity, and to the Japanese buyouts arena), enabling large institutions to participate at scale in these compelling, but complex segments of private assets.
Georges will be joined on the Conduit Capital Board by several new appointees, each with deep and relevant experience, credibility and contacts, and strong empathy for the firm’s mission and vision.
Conduit Capital has also made a significant leadership hire in Meg Brown, joining as Deputy CEO and Head of Business Development. Meg led the marketing strategy and European sales team at Impax Asset Management during the firm’s growth from $4 billion to $45 billion AUM. She joins Conduit Capital to work beside the rest of the senior leadership team to drive the firm’s growth strategy over the coming years.
Radically collaborative, Conduit Capital was born out of The Conduit network and has The Conduit as its founding Shareholder along with Management and Conduit members. Conduit Capital leverages The Conduit ecosystem to form strategic, cross-sector partnerships, creating innovative financial products, and sharing knowledge, networks, and capital to maximise impact at every stage. Conduit Capital builds institutional grade, equity and credit, market rate return, growth strategies for private capital to make investments designed to catalyse social and environmental impact at scale by activating capital at scale.
These significant new appointments come as The Conduit announces its first base outside of London: The Conduit Oslo. Launched in London in 2018, The Conduit is a collaborative community of people committed to creating a just, prosperous and sustainable future. Members are entrepreneurs, investors, creatives, business leaders, activists, civil-society leaders and policymakers, bringing together knowledge, networks and capital to help fund and scale innovative solutions that achieve sustained positive impact. This proprietary network offers a unique combination of sustainability idea generation, deal flow and experience from which compelling investment opportunities arise.
Speaking on his appointment Georges, incoming Board Chairperson, said:
“I am passionate about discovering and nurturing new managers, propelling existing managers into their next phase of growth, and experimenting with new approaches to secure earning streams. Conduit Capital’s unique operating model and radically collaborative approach to impact immediately captured my attention and I am delighted to be joining as Chairperson of the Board of Directors at this pivotal time for both the firm and the broader impact sector.”
Robert Zulkoski, Co-founder & CEO of Conduit Capital said:
“We could not be more pleased that Conduit Capital will be supported by some of the global investment industry’s most experienced executives for the next phase in its growth. The confluence of Georges’ experience as a builder and operator of one of the world’s largest private equity players and his personal enthusiasm for supporting differentiated emerging managers makes him the ideal Chair for us. As a firm with over 60% female ownership, and 70% female managed, we are also excited to welcome Meg in the newly created role of Deputy CEO. Meg is not only a highly accomplished industry executive and authentic impact practitioner, she is also an example of the Conduit ecosystem in action as a long-term member of the Conduit community.”
Meg Brown said:
“The potential to deliver competitive financial returns through solving environmental and social challenges is gaining recognition within the institutional investment community. Conduit Capital is poised to play a key role in the growth of this market by incubating strategies emerging from the Conduit ecosystem which meet clients’ appetite for innovative impact solutions. I am thrilled to be joining the firm to capitalise on this exciting moment.”
