Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 90% of global businesses and 40% of business-sector emissions, yet many still lag in the net-zero transition. Rising costs have continued to hinder their sustainability efforts, with financing and support systems still underdeveloped. At our recent event, we explored the reasons why private and public sectors haven’t prioritised SME decarbonisation, delving into the barriers that prevent these enterprises from fully embracing sustainability. Our discussions focused on innovative solutions aimed at accelerating SMEs’ journey to net zero, fostering a collaborative approach to overcoming these critical challenges.
