Join the Outrage + Optimism podcast hosts Christiana Figueres, Co-architect of the Paris Agreement; Tom Rivett-Carnac, political strategist and author; and Paul Dickinson, Co-founder of CDP and author, with specially invited guests as they explore why it is so vital that we don’t let the prevailing discourse of doomism divide us and why keeping momentum is so vital to achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.
Our hill has become steeper. The energy transition and the regeneration of nature that are paramount for addressing climate change were never going to be easy. But the current geopolitics, the capital rush to unprecedented profitable fossil fuels, and the global recession have steepened our challenge. Accelerating impacts from extreme weather and science projections are strengthening the doom and gloom narrative and setting up a circular firing squad context within the climate community.
More than ever we need to pivot to a narrative of stubborn optimism that speaks to the hearts and minds of people and galvanises the collective will to face this crisis together. We must not let the prevailing discourse of doomism divide us and drive back the momentum that has been building over the last decade.
