Oxford’s Marcus du Sautoy has taught us how to think smarter with maths, predicted the rise of generative AI, and introduced us to the music of the primes – all the while forging a reputation as one of the world’s most renowned mathematicians.
Now he returns to The Conduit for a light-hearted but serious look at the secret life of games. Why do some games seem to be universal while others have a particular connection to the culture of the people playing them? How do you invent a good game? Why do some games, like lockdown favourite Wordle, capture the zeitgeist while others disappear without a trace?
The most simple games endure: board games, card games and dice games have captivated us for centuries and the acclaimed mathematician and author of The Creativity Code (among many others) will once again bring mathematics to the fore with insight and aplomb in this live and livestreamed talk.
