How the Media is Failing the Climate Fight
Thurs 26 Jun, 6pm – 7:30pm
Thurs 26 Jun, 6pm – 7:30pm
Despite 80% of UK citizens expressing concern about climate change, much of the mainstream media still downplays or distorts the crisis. Why is climate coverage often sensationalized, inconsistent, or even sidelined? And how can we reshape the narrative to inspire action rather than apathy?
At The Conduit, in partnership with The Media Society, this urgent conversation brings together key voices to unpack the complex relationship between climate and the media. We’ll explore why major outlets have cut back on dedicated climate reporting, how misinformation thrives, and what it will take to create compelling, solutions-focused journalism that resonates with a wider audience.
From the end of Sky News’ Climate Show to the struggle between science and sensationalism, we’ll explore why climate coverage often falls short—and how we can make it clearer, more accurate, and more impactful.
