Conduit Club member Michael Norton is launching his new book Fixing the Planet which details 40 different ways in which we are trashing the planet. For each topic, Michael provides a global perspective with facts and figures, whilst also showcasing stories of hope from people around the world. Join us for an evening that will include a discussion with five young activists, addressing topics from the book and how they see the future looking. There will be a glass of wine on arrival, champagne to toast the author who is celebrating his 80th birthday, and a signed (free) copy of the book being launched.
Join Conduit Club member Michael Norton for the launch of his new book Fixing the Planet: An Overview for Optimists and Activists – a unique guide to the challenges we face in repairing the environment and creating a fairer world for all – and how to overcome them.
The evening will include a discussion with five young activists, addressing topics from the book and how they see the future looking.
Speakers:
Amy Bray founded environmental education charity Another Way in 2019 whilst still at school. She gives talks and awareness sessions on marine conservation, sustainable living and the environmental crises. “I believe that education is a force to be reckoned with. I believe the power of people can change the world, especially if we listen to the youth.” Amy is currently a second year student at Exeter University studying marine biology.
Jessica Ryan Ndegwa is a designer for disability and a disability activist and speaker. She has been appointed a Creative Freelance Champion to help drive systemic change within the creative industries. She is a winner of a MakeMyMark award.
Ayrton Cable has been a social activist since his pre-teens. He has focussed on issues including animal welfare and food and water security. He is currently a student at LSE as well as a tech consultant. He is the founder of Humanitarian Water and Food (WAF) Youth Award. In 2012 he screened a film about food labelling and animal welfare to an invited audience in the Palace of Westminster.
Gabriel Perez Pineda is a student at a Newham 6th form college, and is a part of a team who have come together to challenge the way that education and schools are assessed and the impact that this assessment is having on young people’s mental wellbeing. He is will part of the discussion with four other young activists, addressing topics from the book and how they see the future looking.
Jackson Mann (aged 15) has created a card game called SOS (Save Our Species) to promote environmental awareness, which is being launched with support from WWF, with 100% of profits dedicated to saving endangered species.
