Diane Abbott: A Woman Like Me
Thurs 30 Jan, 6pm – 7:30pm
Thurs 30 Jan, 6pm – 7:30pm
Diane Abbott is a history-maker, breaking barriers from her early days as a bright and determined child of the Windrush generation to becoming the first elected Black female MP in the UK.
Since her first day in the House of Commons, Abbott has been a fearless and vocal advocate, championing causes such as increasing access to education for Black children, speaking out against the Iraq War, and tirelessly advocating for refugees and immigrants.
A unique figure in British public life, Abbott has faced significant hostility from mainstream media, social media, and even her own party for her outspoken views, which some argue were outside the mainstream.
Join us at The Conduit, in partnership with The Trouble Club, for an intimate evening with this icon of British political history.
