The Art Of Intuition
Thurs 14th Mar, 6pm – 7:15pm
InnSæi, the Icelandic word for intuition, poetically captures the nature of the world within us. It has three meanings: the sea within; to see within; and to see from the inside out. We’ll explore these three different concepts with Hrund and ask how they can help shift the centre of gravity in how we imagine and navigate our own paths in life, connect with other people and planet Earth.
Louis VI is a nature activist who is using music as a new more relatable, contemporary and culturally connected way of talking about climate change. We’ll weave the thread between how Louis experiences the world and Hrund’s insights about InnSæi, (pronounced ‘in-sy-eh’)
The conversation will be hosted by Lindsay Levin, a long-time social entrepreneur and founder of Leaders’ Quest, TED’s global climate initiative TED Countdown, and most recently the Blue Dot Collective.
Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir is an Icelandic author, speaker, film maker and sustainability leader who brings together ideas and people across sectors and disciplines to inspire creative mindsets and constructive solutions. She is an Advisory Council member at Yale’s International Leadership Centre, a board member of Eyrir Invest, Nordic Ignite Angel Ambassador, former Director of Iceland’s sustainability centre Festa and former Chair of Iceland’s largest innovation and technology development grant fund. A believer that change starts from within, Hrund’s experience spans from sustainable businesses, post-conflict reconstruction and development with the UN, film making and the arts, to roles in the not for profit, private and public sectors. She is the co-director and script writer of InnSæi – the Sea Within (2016), a feature documentary shown worldwide on Netflix and other streaming services. She has been recognised for her work as a Yale World Fellow, World Economic Forum Young Global Leader and Cultural Leader, and by the Icelandic Ocean Cluster for her leadership in sustainability.
Louis J. Butler, aka Louis VI, is a Rapper, Musician, Film Composer, Documentary Maker, Zoologist and Nature activist. His award- winning documentary “The World Is (Y)ours” created in partnership with POCC and Tanya Ramsurrun was aimed at getting young black and brown people to vote based on climate issues in the last election. He has given key notes at COP26 and the BBC’s annual Climate Creatives event where he spoke and presented his new upcoming film “NATURE AIN’T A LUXURY”. His new album EARTHLING centres the climate justice movement amid more personal musings in Louis VI’s woozy, psychedelia-tinged soundscapes, cut through with atmospheric field recordings that pull from his time spent in the natural world – from the Amazon rainforest to UK woodlands. It is full of timely lyrics ruminating gently on questions about individualism, climate justice, race, love, colonialism, capitalism and the state of the nation.
