Our expert panel convened to discuss the future of renewable energy and the ongoing shift from fossil fuels. This enlightening conversation featured Pilita Clark, Associate Editor at the Financial Times; Rhea Hamilton, Managing Director for BeyondNetZero at General Atlantic; Ben Backwell, CEO of the Global Wind Energy Council; and Juliet Davenport, Founder of Good Energy.
They delved into topics such as the tech behind carbon removal technology (BECCS), climate engineering, and the breakthroughs we can expect in the coming years. The discussion also touched on the recent achievement by the US Department of Energy in nuclear fusion reaction, sparking hope for a limitless supply of renewable energy.

Pilita Clark is an associate editor and columnist at the Financial Times where she writes on climate change and corporate life. Formerly the FT’s environment correspondent, her writing has been widely recognised and in 2019 she was named Environment Journalist of the Year for the third year in a row at the British Press Awards.
Ben Backwell is the CEO of the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), the organisation that represents the private sector wind industry globally. Mr Backwell is a strategist and thought leader who has been involved in global energy markets for over 20 years, as a journalist, analyst, advisor and government affairs specialist. He is the author of “Wind Power: the struggle for a new global industry (Taylor and Francis, 2017) of which a third edition will be published in 2023 and a frequent media commentator. He sits on a number of advisory boards and committees in the renewable energy space, including the RE100, IRENA and IEA, and will be leading the wind sector’s intervention at COP28 in Dubai.
Juliet Davenport is the founder and former chief executive of Good Energy, a renewable energy company in the United Kingdom. The company has won several awards, including being twice named a Sunday Times Best Green Company, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust’s Outstanding Contribution to the Environment 2009 and The Observer’s Ethical Award for best online retail initiative.
Rhea Hamilton is a Managing Director at General Atlantic, on the BeyondNetZero team. Hamilton brings nearly two decades of investing experience focused on climate and sustainability. Before joining BeyondNetZero, she was a Managing Director at OGCI Climate Investments, where she led the venture and growth equity investments globally. Prior to this, Hamilton headed private equity transactions focused on sustainable technology and clean energy, both for a large European family office as well as for a pioneer in sustainable investing, RobecoSAM.
