An internal sense of Purpose (with a capital ‘P’) is, for many, the singular wellspring of good mental health. ‘Those who have a “why”, can bear with almost any “how”, wrote Viktor Frankl in his classic book- Man’s Search for Meaning.
Almost 75 years since, Purpose has become a central component of Corporate culture with companies clamouring to articulate a higher sense of social mission in everything they do. To operate without ‘Purpose’ is, for a growing number of companies and their employees- a cardinal sin.
But at what point does living with such high moral standards actually risk harming our mental health, and at what point should Purpose give way to Play, and embracing the joys that come with abandoning a puritanical sense of ‘Mission’?
Join us at the start of Mental Health Awareness Week for a panel discussion exploring both sides of the psychological coin- and the better source of good mental health.
