Children of the Snow Land Film Screening
April 7, 6:00 pm

April 7, 6:00 pm
Children of the Snow Land, a multi-award-winning documentary by director Zara Balfour, with international festival screenings, a BIFA award and a Grierson Awards nomination. Set in the high Himalayas of Nepal, the film follows children sent away from their families at just four years old to receive an education in Kathmandu, not seeing or speaking to their parents again for over a decade. Filmed across some of the world’s highest and most remote landscapes, it captures their emotional return home at 16 years old, documenting stories that are heartwarming, humbling, and deeply inspiring.
Following the film, Zara will host a Q&A exploring how the project led to the creation of Snowland Journeys CIC. With Dame Joanna Lumley as patron, the organisation now delivers an annual, scalable reintegration programme that has reunited over 60 Himalayan teenagers with their families to date, providing structured physical, emotional, and future-focused support designed to create lasting, community-level impact.
